The Yamaha Ténéré 700 has been an integral part of the adventure bike range since its market launch in 2018 and carries on the legacy of Yamaha's legendary rally successes in the 90s.  In 2025, the Ténéré 700 remains the best-selling machine in its class and continues to inspire off-road fans and adventurers around the world.  The model has been redesigned to offer even better performance both on and off the road.

The new design: rally-inspired and functional

The 2025 Ténéré 700 is inspired by Yamaha’s rally experience and features a tall, upright front end that flows into a sleek rear end.  The redesign of the Ténéré includes new ergonomics that enable efficient use both on asphalt roads and off-road.  The modified tank, with a volume of 16 liters, now sits lower and further forward, resulting in better weight distribution.  This adjustment ensures improved handling and an optimized riding position.

In addition, the new Ténéré has a one-piece seat in classic rally style, which offers the rider more freedom of movement – ideal for demanding off-road riding in a standing position.  The seat height of the standard version is 875 mm, while the version with a lower seat height offers 860 mm.

Technological improvements and a more modern cockpit

The Ténéré 700 now comes with a 6.3-inch TFT color display that is designed for easy smartphone connectivity and offers a variety of functions such as call and message display, music control and turn-by-turn navigation via the MyRide app.  The USB-C charging port in the cockpit keeps smartphones ready for use even on long journeys.  The driver can also choose between two display modes: “Street” mode in classic style and ‘Explorer’ mode, which is particularly focused on the most important info for off-road driving.

The new control elements of the Ténéré 700 include a 5-way joystick and an extended switch unit, which enable intuitive operation of the numerous functions.  In addition, the indicators have been upgraded and offer an automatic reset function.

Optimized engine performance with the YCC-T and two riding modes

At the heart of the Ténéré 700 is still the CP2 twin-cylinder engine with 690 cm³, which now complies with the EU5+ standard.  A new feature is the Yamaha Chip Controlled-Throttle (YCC-T), which allows you to switch between two engine modes.  The “Sport” mode offers a more direct power delivery, while the “Explorer” mode ensures a smoother throttle response.  These modes can be switched simply by pressing a button on the handlebars.  In addition, the air duct has been shortened to improve torque in the lower rev range – an advantage for off-road use.

High-quality suspension and extended off-road capabilities

The new Ténéré 700 features a fully adjustable 43 mm upside-down fork, which offers 210 mm of suspension travel (190 mm on the low version) and provides up to 240 mm of ground clearance.  At the rear, an improved shock absorber with aluminum reservoir ensures optimum cooling and stability.  The rear suspension offers 200 mm of travel (180 mm on the low version), making the model stable and agile in off-road use.

The Ténéré 700 Rally goes one better with 230 mm front suspension travel and 255 mm ground clearance and is therefore designed for extreme terrain.  The Rally also offers a higher seat, reinforced KYB forks and lighter titanium footrests.

Customizable assistance systems for more control

Yamaha has developed a three-stage ABS and a switchable traction control system for the new Ténéré 700.  In standard mode, the ABS remains active on both wheels, in the second mode the ABS is deactivated on the rear wheel, and in the third mode it can be switched off completely.  These modes can be controlled via the TFT display.  The traction control can also be adjusted or switched off completely to ensure full control on loose surfaces.

The Ténéré 700 Rally: A tribute to Yamaha’s rally past

The Ténéré 700 Rally, inspired by the legendary rally bikes of the 1980s, comes with a special Sky Blue design and gold rims.  The Rally version was developed for extreme off-road conditions and offers additional features such as a thicker, ergonomic seat, a robust engine guard made of 4 mm aluminum and wider titanium footrests.

Colors and availability

The Ténéré 700 Standard and the low seat height version will be available in the colors Icon Blue and Frozen Titanium.  The Ténéré 700 Rally will be available in the Sky Blue design, reminiscent of Yamaha’s Dakar icons.  The standard version will be available from March 2025, followed by the other variants in April.

Original accessories and personalized packages

Yamaha offers a range of accessory packages (Sport, Adventure and Explorer) and individually orderable accessories to customize the Ténéré 700 according to your own wishes.  These can be fitted directly at the Yamaha dealer.

Digital tools for more riding fun

With the MyGarage app, Yamaha offers the option of virtually configuring the Ténéré 700 with original accessories and viewing them in 3D before purchasing.  The MyRide app allows riders to record their routes and share riding statistics – including connectivity for notifications and navigation on the TFT display.

The new Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Ténéré 700 Rally offer a balanced adventure experience for a wide range of demands – from road riding to challenging off-road routes.  Yamaha remains true to the Ténéré heritage while offering modern technology for the year 2025.
