The Yamaha YZF-R1 was introduced in 1998. In 2023 it celebrates its 25th anniversary and in the media is heavily speculated how Yamaha will celebrate this. Allegedly with an upgraded special model.
Special model with extreme wings
The Japanese magazine Young Machine, which in the past proved an incredible nose in terms of rumors, reckons with a special model. They show how they imagine the motorcycle in a rendering. The R1 has been designed in the iconic white and red colors, and the 90s-style YZF logo is also present.
Particularly striking are the mighty winglets at the front, which are somewhat reminiscent of the winglets on the new BMW S 1000 RR thanks to the protruding “lower lip”.
Or is it a new model after all?
However, the presentation of a new R1 would also be a good possibility. As early as June 2022, registration documents for the FIM surfaced listing a new R1 model with which to compete in motorsport, powered by a 998cc four-cylinder.
