Peter Hickman could also win the Supertwin TT.  Michael Dunlop had to give up his race because of a defect.

As the weather did not cooperate, the Supertwin class race was postponed and shortened from four to three laps.  The two Paton drivers Peter Hickman and Michael Dunlop were only three tenths of a second apart in the practice sessions, so one could hope for an exciting race.

After the first lap, Michael Dunlop was 0.696 seconds ahead of Hicky.  Coward followed in third place with a further 13.8 seconds gap.  However, he was unable to hold the position as an engine failure took him out of the race.

At the start of lap three, Hickman was 0.564 seconds ahead of Michael Dunlop.  Lee Johnston, in third place, was already more than a minute behind.  However, Michael Dunlop then retired with technical problems.
