The first race and also the Superpole went to Toprak Razgatlioglu, who was able to win his first two victories in the WSBK. For this reason, he went from pole into the second main race. Rea started in second place.

Razgatlioglu contributed significantly to the premature World Campionship win from Rea. The four-time world champion had to get 21 points more than the runner-up in the Championship Alvaro Bautista.

In lap two, Razgatlioglu tried to brake past Bautista, but he misjudged and fell. Bautista could not avoid  and fell as well. Rea had to finish the race at first place to reach the premature World Championship title.

However, Michael van der Marc (Yamaha) did not make it easy for him. Constantly, the two opponents overtook each other until finally Rea prevailed and could gain some distance.
