Akrapovic now also builds crash bars

The Slovenian company Akrapovic is actually known for high-quality exhaust systems. However, they are now expanding their portfolio and are now also building titanium crash bars.

The first Akrapovic crash bars for the BMW R 1250 GS were presented. The Upper Protection Bar Set protects the radiator and tank, while the Lower Protection Bar Set protects the area around the cylinder.

The sets are made of sandblasted titanium tubes, which save about 40% in weight compared to steel tubes with comparable properties. Akra quotes a weight of 6.26 kg. To distribute the forces occurring in the event of a fall as well as possible, the crash bars are partially bolted to the motorcycle frame.

The crash bars come with an engraved Akrapovic logo and ABE, so they are registration-free. The lower bars are priced at around $1,500 and the upper ones at $1,200. Currently served is the BWM R 1250 GS of the model years 2019-2022, for the Adventure is currently only the Lower Protection Bar Set offered.
