Successful biker benefit marred by accident
Even though the biggest charity event of the Swiss biker scene was a great success overall this year, a traffic accident during the ride out, the traditional ride as the highlight of the event, clouded the otherwise extremely positive energy.
The idea of volunteering is to help people with disabilities ease their difficult daily lives and contribute to their mobility. But also the entire profit as well as all collected donations of the event will fully benefit muscle-ill and impaired people.
Didn’t want to miss Marc Amacher’s performance – disorientation after coma
Stephan (54) from Neftenbach rode off as one of many volunteers as a biker with two physically impaired women in the sidecar, only to be hit a short time later by a car driver who did not belong to the event. Both the car driver and the two women were fortunately only slightly to moderately injured, while Stephan, on the other hand, was classified as seriously injured.
When he regained consciousness after several days in a coma, a long struggle to physically heal began. Due to the typical disorientation upon awakening, Stephan initially thought it was the same day. So he told that he had to press in order not to miss the programmatically scheduled performance of Marc Amacher.
Heartwarming after the accident: exclusive concert and support for the injured helper
When Bruno Leutwlyer (54), chairman of the committee, heard about it, he contacted the musician, known among others from The Voice, and suggested to visit the helper together and to play a few songs just for him with his guitar in his luggage. On Thursday afternoon, they then unceremoniously sat down on the machines and headed for the residence of the injured party.
The emotion and gratitude are clearly visible in his eyes as he enjoys the exclusive concert in the summer sunshine. At the end, a hand-signed CD was presented as a small gift. All sides had a lot of fun, because Stephan is already on his feet again. This small gesture shows that at the Love Ride the heart beats not only for impaired people, but of course also for their own team.
