The Sport Heritage range is expanded, offering a new target group access to the Faster Sons world. Premium build quality and reliability, these are the words Yamaha uses to describe the new XSR125.

The 125cc motorcycle is aimed at younger riders entering this class.

Light, agile and fun

The upright riding position, smooth suspension and the easy handling are designed to accommodate novice riders and immediately give them the “fun-loving nature” of the Sport Heritage bike. The available Redline, Tech Black and Impact Yellow color schemes are inspired by models from “days gone by.” In combination with the rounded tank, flat seat and round headlight, the Faster Sons DNA should also be emphasized. Despite a certain retro look, modern technologies are used, for example, you can find LED lighting all around and also an LCD cockpit.

Engine and performance

The liquid-cooled 125cc single-cylinder four-valve engine is already familiar from the MT-125 or R125. It produces 11kW or 15 PS and thus offers the maximum permissible according to the European A1 driver’s license category.

Thanks to the variable valve timing, the engine offers sufficient torque in the lower rpm range, but also enough power at high rpm.

Chassis and tires

The frame is a Deltabox design with a double beam running in a straight line from the steering head to the swingarm pivot point. This is said to make the chassis particularly robust, but also light.

The front is damped by a 37mm diameter upside-down fork. The surface has been refined with a black finish, which should allow it to blend seamlessly into the timeless look.

The block tread of the tires is also meant to accentuate the look of the bike. The tire dimensions are 110/70 17 inches at the front and 140/70 17 inches at the rear. The wheelbase is 1,330 mm and the seat height is 810 mm.

Availability and accessories

In Europe, the Yamaha CSR125 is expected to be at dealerships from June 2021. Optionally, various original accessories or even entire kits will be offered, including a Racer Kit, Urban Kit, a Cafe Racer fairing or even an Akrapovic exhaust. Nothing has been revealed about the price yet.
