Ducati has reached an agreement with the Volkswagen Group Argentina to build certain motorcycles in Cordoba. Assembly of the bikes is scheduled to begin before the end of the year.

As the Scrambler range is very popular in Argentina, the Scrambler Icon, for example, will be built in Cordoba for the local market. It will be the third Ducati plant, outside of Italy.

Ducati belongs to Audi AG, for 10 years already, which in turn belongs to VW. It is, nevertheless, the first deal of its kind.

“The Argentine motorcycle market is very interesting, Ducati has a strong position in this country where we have been able to achieve excellent results over the years, both in terms of volume and market share,” Francesco Milicia, Ducati global sales and after-sales vice president, said in a statement.

“In Argentina, we can count on a good collaboration with the Volkswagen Group, which distributes our motorcycles. Thanks to this strong relationship, we can take this important step that will further strengthen our position in this market,” he added.

“Argentina is an important pillar for Volkswagen Latin America. With this new investment, we will further strengthen our brand in the region, with models that are increasingly adapted to the needs of our customers,” Volkswagen Latin America CEO Pablo Di Si said in a statement.

“The start of the assembly of Ducati motorcycles in Córdoba is a great pleasure, as Volkswagen Group Argentina will be the first subsidiary of the VW Group worldwide to do so,” he concluded.
