An up-and-coming segment
With the Ninja ZX-4RR, Kawasaki has set a trend that is being taken up in the Chinese motorcycle market in particular. Models such as the Kove 450RR and the QJMotor SRK400RR show that the market for small sports bikes with high-revving engines is growing. Even lesser-known brands such as Yingang and ZXJC are entering this segment. Now Voge, an established manufacturer with an international presence, is bringing its RR500 into play.
Technical details of the Voge RR500
The Voge RR500 stands out with a 500 cc in-line four-cylinder engine. According to the registration documents, the machine reaches a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). With a fully fueled weight of 192 kg (423 lbs), it is slightly heavier than the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, which weighs 188 kg (415 lbs). The dimensions are almost identical: the wheelbase of the Voge is 1,374 mm (54.1 inches), while the Ninja is slightly longer at 1,380 mm (54.3 inches).
The Voge relies on a steel frame that combines both welded and pressed elements and a front trellis tube design. The aluminum swing arm and an upside-down fork bearing the Voge logo round off the chassis. The brakes are from Nissin and are radially mounted four-piston calipers.
International competition: Honda enters the market
Honda is also planning to enter the growing segment. At the CIM Motor Show in China, it was announced that a “mid-size four-cylinder model” is in development and will be launched on the market in 2025. This statement is supported by trademark applications: In Singapore, Honda secured the name “CBR400R Four”, while in Mexico the name “CBR500R Four” has been registered.
These models are expected to complement the existing CBR400R and CBR500R, both two-cylinder models. In markets with tax concessions for small displacements, the 400cc version is likely to be offered, while the 500cc will appear internationally – possibly as a direct competitor to the Ninja ZX-4RR.
Conclusion
The Voge RR500 is another strong model entering the world of small four-cylinder sports bikes. Competition is fierce, both from established brands such as Kawasaki and Honda and from new Chinese manufacturers. Whether the RR500 will prevail in the long term remains to be seen – but with its technical features and Voge’s international experience, it is well placed.
