Triumph has comprehensively revised its Tiger 1200 for the 2024 model year and is presenting a version that has been optimized in many respects.  The update not only affects the engine and technical specifications, but also the comfort and practical aspects that characterize this adventure tourer.  The new features include improvements to the engine, chassis and equipment, which make the motorcycle more attractive for everyday use as well as for long journeys.

Engine: Refined performance and control

At the heart of the revision is the further developed 1160 cc three-cylinder engine, which has a higher flywheel mass thanks to modifications to the T-plane crankshaft, the alternator rotor and the balancer shaft. These changes, together with the new set-up, result in an improved torque curve in the lower rev range and a more responsive response, especially at low speeds. In addition, a revised clutch design enables smoother engagement of first gear, which is particularly beneficial in city traffic or on challenging off-road trails.

The power output is stated as 150 hp at 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm at 7,000 rpm, so it remains unchanged despite the changes to the engine.

Improved comfort and ergonomics

Triumph wanted to significantly increase the riding comfort of the Tiger 1200. The implementation of damped handlebars and risers, which already ensured smoother handling on the Explorer models, is now standard on all variants. An optimized rider’s seat with a flatter profile offers more space. The seat cushion, which is 20 mm lower and optimally positioned, has also been redesigned. This improves ergonomics and helps to minimize fatigue on long journeys. The clutch lever has also been slightly redesigned and now leaves more space for the rider’s fingers.

Driving dynamics and safety

Triumph has paid particular attention to the riding dynamics and safety of the Tiger 1200, with the GT models benefiting from increased lean angle clearance achieved by adjusting the positioning of the footpegs.

The introduction of active spring preload reduction allows the rider to reduce the seat height at the rear wheel by 20 mm at the touch of a button when the motorcycle is stationary, providing additional safety and control when maneuvering or when stationary.

Color variants and models

For the 2024 model year, Triumph is introducing new colour options for the Tiger 1200, expanding the aesthetic range and enabling personalized options. The GT Pro and GT Explorer are available in Carnival Red, while the Rally Pro and Rally Explorer are offered in the colors Matt Sandstorm and Jet Black, as well as the already familiar Matt Khaki.

Technology and equipment

The Tiger 1200 family impresses with an extensive technology package that includes a semi-active Showa suspension system, a TRIUMPH “Blind Spot” radar system (only on Explorer models) and up to six riding modes. The lighting is completely LED, supplemented by adaptive cornering lights.

Prices and availability

The new Tiger 1200 models are now available to order and will be delivered from April 2024. Prices in Germany start at €20,545 for the GT Pro and go up to €23,145 for the Rally Explorer. In Austria, prices start at €23,695 for the GT Pro and go up to €26,495 for the Rally Explorer.
