Design and features
The Thruxton 400 stands out visually with its round headlight fairing, teardrop-shaped tank, and redesigned side panels. A slim fender and a new taillight unit have been installed at the rear. Characteristic features include the sporty handlebar stubs and the rear-set footrests, which allow for a slightly forward-leaning seating position. The seat is wide and, together with the standard seat cover, gives the bike a typical café racer look. A Monza-style aluminum fuel cap and color-coordinated passenger cover are among the model-specific details.
Other features include adjustable traction control, a USB socket, and a classic analog speedometer with integrated LCD display.
Engine and technical data
The Thruxton 400 is powered by the familiar liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine from the TR series, which is also used in other 400cc models from Triumph. In the Thruxton 400, the engine delivers 41.5 hp (30.5 kW) at 9,000 rpm and provides a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The performance data is thus slightly above that of the Speed 400 and should provide an even more agile riding experience. This is made possible by a modified camshaft profile, which delivers power and torque further up the rev range.
Chassis and weight
The chassis is largely based on the Speed 400. The Thruxton 400 features a steel frame with aluminum swing arm, an adjustable central spring, and an upside-down fork at the front. Braking is provided by single disc brakes at the front and rear, each with ABS. The tires measure 110/70-17 at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear.
According to the manufacturer, the Thruxton 400 weighs 174 kg (383 lbs) fully fueled in the European version. In the Indian market, the weight is stated as 183 kg (404 lbs), which is mainly due to additional fairing parts and extensive equipment. The seat height is a beginner-friendly 795 mm.
Colors, price, and market launch
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is available in four different colors: Lava Red Gloss, Pearl Metallic White, Phantom Black, and Metallic Racing Yellow. In India, the model is available from 274,137 Indian rupees, which is equivalent to approximately 2,700 euros or around 2,950 US dollars. A significantly higher price is expected for Europe, where models such as the Speed 400 start at around 5,645 euros (approximately 6,170 US dollars). The sales launch in Europe has not yet been officially confirmed, but is expected to take place in 2026.
Classification and outlook
The Thruxton 400 expands Triumph’s successful 400 model family, which is developed and produced in collaboration with Bajaj. With more than 60,000 units of the small series already sold worldwide, Triumph is responding to the continuing demand for lighter, beginner-friendly models with a retro design. With its authentic café racer styling, sporty seating position, and powerful single-cylinder engine, the Thruxton 400 is aimed specifically at riders who want to combine classic looks with modern technology.
An exact date for the market launch outside India has not yet been set. However, it is likely that the bike will be presented to the European market at the EICMA in Milan at the latest.
