New platform, new engines
At the heart of both models are the completely newly developed single-cylinder engines: the TF 250-E generates a peak output of 42.3 hp (31.1 kW) at 12,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 27.8 Nm from 249.9 cm³, while the TF 450-E with 449.9 cm³ delivers an impressive 57.8 hp (42.5 kW) and 49.2 Nm. This puts both engines at the top of their respective classes.
Both engines have been specially tuned for enduro use: An increased flywheel mass compared to MX engines ensures better traction, smoother response and better rideability in technically demanding terrain. This is complemented by a six-speed gearbox with Exedy racing clutch, which has been optimized for clutchless gear changes – particularly helpful in slow, narrow passages.
Aluminum frame and enduro-specific geometry
The central backbone aluminum frame with double joist is a Triumph in-house development and has been designed for maximum rigidity with the lowest possible weight. According to Triumph, the chassis offers an optimum balance of agility at low speeds and stability at high speeds. Both models weigh in at a competitive weight when fully fueled: 114.2 kg (251.7 lbs) for the TF 250-E and 116.7 kg (257.3 lbs) for the TF 450-E.
High-quality suspension components from KYB
The fully adjustable suspension from KYB ensures precise handling on varying terrain. At the front, 48 mm upside-down forks with 300 mm spring travel are used, while at the rear, a central shock absorber with high and low-speed compression and rebound damping and 313 mm spring travel is linked via a linkage. The enduro models differ significantly from the motocross models in terms of geometry: The ground clearance is reduced, which improves control in difficult terrain and makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces.
Brake system and tires for the highest demands
The brakes are fitted with components from Galfer and Brembo: 260 mm discs and floating 24 mm double-piston callipers at the front, 220 mm discs and 26 mm single-piston callipers at the rear. The tires are from Michelin – Enduro 2 tires mounted on 21-inch and 18-inch D.I.D DirtStar 7000 aluminium rims. The tires have been specially developed for a wide range of surfaces, from mud to gravel.
Technology: engine management and assistance systems
One highlight is the engine management system developed jointly with Athena. It allows you to switch between two driving modes: an aggressive power delivery and a softer, traction-enhancing characteristic for technical terrain. Additional riding modes can be configured using the optional Wi-Fi module and the Triumph MX Tune Pro app.
There is also traction control, launch control and a Triumph-specific quickshifter (2nd to 6th gear). The digital display provides information on engine speed, temperature, gear indicator, riding mode and fuel level. The system is controlled via backlit switches on the handlebars.
Ergonomics, design and practicality
The TF 250-E and TF 450-E are based on consistently race-oriented ergonomics. The ProTaper ACF Carbon Core handlebars with variable positioning, the slim bodywork and the 955 mm high, non-slip pyramid seat ensure optimum control in all riding situations. The tank capacity is 8.3 liters, which allows for longer rides.
Triumph also shows its edge in terms of looks: sharply drawn plastic parts, magnesium engine covers and the aggressive color concept in “Triumph Performance Yellow” underline the sporty orientation. Integrated LED lights at the front and rear offer better visibility at dusk – even if the models in North America are currently only available as pure off-road versions without indicators and road approval.
Standard equipment and accessories
The standard equipment includes high-quality components such as
- Dell’Orto 44 mm throttle body
- Del West titanium valves
- King forged pistons
- Stainless steel exhaust with resonator (Helmholtz system on the TF 250-E, side resonator on the TF 450-E)
- Aluminum swingarm
- Hand-welded frame components (TIG)
Triumph also offers a wide range of accessories, including an Akrapovič rear silencer, additional mapping options, graphics kits and protective parts for tough off-road use.
Prices and availability
