Explosive performance meets finely tuned control
The new Rocket 3 Storm models impress with the world’s largest production motorcycle engine, which now delivers 15 hp more and reaches an impressive 182 hp at 7,000 rpm. Torque has also been increased by 4 Nm to 225 Nm at just 4,000 rpm, providing explosive acceleration and effortless response in every gear.
Improved handling for a more agile riding experience
With newly designed, lighter ten-spoke cast aluminum wheels, the handling of the Rocket 3 Storm is significantly improved. The reduced unsprung mass benefits the steering response and increases the Rocket’s already impressive maneuverability. The robust and lightweight aluminum frame, first introduced in 2019, uses cast and forged elements to achieve an exceptional torque-to-weight ratio.
Dark elegance in every detail
The Rocket 3 Storm features a dark, moody colour scheme with black details and anodized surfaces. Each model offers three signature two-tone options, ensuring an eye-catching and consistent color choice across both models.
Superior ergonomics and style
Each Rocket model features a unique seat configuration for ultimate comfort and control, while the different footrest positions allow for either a sporty, dynamic or a more relaxed position. The sophisticated design also includes unique black anodized finishes and fully LED-based lighting that emphasizes the bikes’ aggressive stance.
Technology focused on the rider
The Rocket 3 Storm models feature a range of technological innovations specifically designed to enhance the riding experience and maximize safety. At the heart of this is the lean angle dependent ABS and traction control, supported by an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that ensures precise performance on both straight lines and cornering. The traction control and ABS dynamically adapt to the riding situation to provide optimum stability and control.
Other features include selectable throttle modes that allow the rider to adjust the bike to different riding conditions and personal preferences. Four riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport and a rider-configurable mode – allow the throttle response and traction control settings to be customized.
An intuitive cruise control function, which can be easily activated at the touch of a button, contributes to a relaxed ride over longer distances. The speed can be increased or decreased in small increments, and a resume function makes operation even more convenient.
At the heart of the driver-focused technology is the “Ride-by-Wire” system, which guarantees sensitive control, safety and driving comfort. Added to this is a high-performance gearbox equipped with helical cutters to transfer the immense torque smoothly to the rear wheel. The torque assist clutch ensures easy shifting through the six-speed gearbox, with a quickshifter available as an accessory for both models to make upshifting and downshifting even easier.
The Hill Hold Control prevents rolling back on a slope, making it easier to start uphill.
All these technologies are designed to give the rider maximum control and confidence in the bike to fully and safely exploit the Rocket 3 Storm’s impressive performance potential.
Chassis, brakes and wheels
The suspension of the Rocket 3 Storm models has been carefully developed to ensure excellent riding dynamics. With a fully adjustable Showa rear suspension, including piggyback reservoir, and large 47mm Showa front forks that are adjustable for compression and rebound, the bike can be perfectly tuned to individual riding needs. The result is a controlled and comfortable riding experience that tames the Rocket 3 Storm’s impressive performance.
The braking system relies on high-quality, radial-mounted Brembo Stylema brake callipers at the front with two 320 mm discs, which provide exceptional braking power and precision. At the rear, a Brembo M4.32 4-piston monoblock with a 300mm disc provides superior braking power compared to the front brakes of many other motorcycles. Thanks to the optimized cornering ABS, riders enjoy full control and safety at all times.
The update to sportier, ten-spoke cast aluminum wheels not only contributes to the aesthetic appearance, but also improves agility and steering response by reducing unsprung mass. The new wheel sizes – 17-inch front and 16-inch rear – are perfectly matched to the dynamics of the Rocket 3 Storm, which together with the sophisticated suspension creates an incomparably precise and responsive driving experience.
Rocket 3 Storm R and GT: differences and color variety
While the Rocket 3 Storm R and GT share many features, they differ significantly in terms of ergonomics and design to suit different riding styles and preferences. The Rocket 3 Storm R presents itself as a muscle roadster option with a rider-oriented riding position and handlebar placement that offers a blend of power and control. Its sporty design is aimed at riders looking for a dynamic and engaging riding experience.
In contrast, the GT version offers slightly reclined ergonomics with a 125mm change in grip position compared to the R, allowing for a more upright and relaxed riding position. This configuration is aimed at maximum comfort and suitability for longer rides.
In terms of coloring, both models rely on uniform but characteristic options. The Rocket 3 Storm R is available in the color combinations Carnival Red with Sapphire Black, Satin Pacific Blue with Matt Sapphire Black and Sapphire Black with Granite.
The GT variant shares these color options, but with a reverse color split on the tank.
Prices and availability
The Rocket 3 Storm R is available in Germany from €25,895 (plus delivery costs), in Austria from €29,995 (including delivery costs and NOVA), while the Rocket 3 Storm GT is available from €26,695 and €30,995 respectively. Deliveries to dealers will begin in April 2024.
