TRIUMPH is launching two revised versions of the popular Speed Twin in 2025: the Speed Twin 1200 and the sportier Speed Twin 1200 RS.  Both models have received an increase in power of 5 hp as well as numerous technical upgrades, including optimized chassis and an extended technology package with cornering ABS and traction control.  The design has also been further developed to combine the classic style with sporty accents.

More performance and technology for the Speed Twin 1200

The Speed Twin 1200 impresses with an improved chassis, which includes a Marzocchi USD fork and stereo shock absorbers from the same manufacturer.  This combination improves the already dynamic handling.  The additional power of 105 hp (104 hp, 77.2 kW) at 7,750 rpm provides even more riding pleasure.  With new technologies such as cornering ABS and cornering traction control, the model offers more safety and control, especially when cornering.

The design has been subtly revised but remains true to the classic style.  The newly designed tank with curved lines and the sportier look, which is mainly characterized by the new LED headlight unit and the slimmer seat bench, are striking.  The new cast aluminum wheels with a turbine pattern also contribute to the dynamic overall look.

Speed Twin 1200 RS: More sportiness and dynamics

The Speed Twin 1200 RS goes one step further.  With sportier ergonomics achieved by moving the handlebars to the rear and raising the footrests, this model is aimed at riders looking for more intense and precise riding dynamics.  Fully adjustable Öhlins suspension struts and Brembo Stylema brake callipers ensure first-class braking and riding performance.  In conjunction with Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tires, the Speed Twin 1200 RS is especially designed for sporty rides on country roads.

Another highlight is the standard TRIUMPH shift assistant, which enables seamless shifting without a clutch – a first in the Modern Classic range from TRIUMPH.

More power and torque

TRIUMPH has further improved the 1,200 cc Bonneville engine in both models.  The new maximum output of 105 hp (77.2 kW) and a maximum torque of 112 Nm at 4,250 rpm promise an intense riding experience, especially thanks to the characteristic 270-degree firing order.  The 6-speed gearbox and torque-assisted anti-hopping clutch help to ensure that the engine’s power can be unleashed in a controlled manner at all times.

Design meets modern technology

Both Speed Twin models combine classic looks with modern technology.  Both the Speed Twin 1200 and the RS are equipped with cornering ABS, cornering traction control and various riding modes.  While the Speed Twin 1200 offers the “Road” and “Rain” modes, the RS supplements these with the “Sport” mode, which enables a more direct throttle response.

Another highlight of the RS is the aforementioned shift assistant, which allows clutchless shifting and further intensifies the sporty riding experience.  Both models also come with new LCD and TFT displays, which are framed in a classic round dial.  These displays are compatible with the “My TRIUMPH” app, which enables arrow navigation and phone connectivity.

Refined details and high-quality accessories

TRIUMPH is known for its attention to detail, and many components have also been revised on the new Speed Twin models.  For example, the heel guards, the headlight surrounds and the brushed aluminum side covers have been redesigned.  For fans of individuality, TRIUMPH offers over 50 accessories with which the bikes can be further personalized – including clip-on handlebar ends or a café racer-style seat cover.

Prices and availability

The new Speed Twin 1200 and Speed Twin 1200 RS will be available from TRIUMPH dealers from January 2025.  The Speed Twin 1200 starts at a price of €13,895 in Germany and the Speed Twin 1200 RS is priced at €16,195. In Austria, the prices are €16,195 for the Speed Twin 1200 and €18,695 for the RS.

Conclusion

TRIUMPH has successfully combined classic looks and modern technology with the new Speed Twin 1200 and Speed Twin 1200 RS models.  Whether for everyday use or sporty country road rides – both bikes offer a well thought-out overall package for different types of riders.  With increased performance, optimized handling and an extended technology package, the Speed Twin range is ready for 2025.
