The Benelli TRK 552: Evolution of an adventurer

The motorcycle world never stands still, and Benelli is underlining this with the future launch of the TRK 552, which will replace the popular TRK 502.  The leaked images of the TRK 552 at the end of February 2024 herald an exciting time for fans of the brand and adventure seekers worldwide.

More power in the same design

At first glance, the TRK 552 remains true to its predecessor, with split LED headlights and hand protectors that continue the robust and adventurous design.  Under the hood, however, is a refreshed 549cc in-line two-cylinder engine that bridges the gap between tradition and innovation.  This engine, coupled to a six-speed gearbox, promises a lively performance that will thrill both on the road and on dirt tracks.

The technical specifications of the new engine indicate an output of up to 61 hp (45 kW) at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 55 Nm at 6,000 rpm.  However, a version with 48 hp (35 kW) adapted to the A2 driving license is expected for the European market.  This upgrade promises a stronger pull compared to the TRK 502 without significantly increasing the peak power.

Advances in chassis and equipment

A new aluminum rear swingarm design replaces the previous tubular steel construction, while adjustable suspension elements, including an upside-down telescopic fork from Marzocchi, ensure improved handling characteristics.  The braking system relies on the reliability of J.Juan brake callipers, which are used in a combination of double disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the rear.

Modern conveniences for the rider

The TRK 552 moves with the times by using LED lighting all round and introducing a fully digital cockpit with smartphone connectivity.  Heated grips and seat cushions ensure comfort on longer rides, complemented by practical details such as USB ports with waterproof closure.

Pricing and availability

Although the exact prices for the new models are not yet known, the current price range of the TRK 502 models in Germany suggests that the TRK 552 and TRK 552X are likely to remain under the €7,000 mark.  This suggests excellent value for money, underlining Benelli’s commitment to accessible quality and adventure for all.

Conclusion

The Benelli TRK 552 is ready to win the hearts of mid-range enduro fans.  Benelli stays true to its line by combining tradition with innovation, creating a motorcycle that is suitable for both beginners and experienced adventurers.
