Two of the world's most up-and-coming motorcycle brands appear to be preparing for a strategic cooperation: Royal Enfield and CFMoto. While Royal Enfield has been particularly successful in India, Europe and South America with models such as the Meteor, Hunter and Shotgun, CFMoto has made a name for itself with powerful and attractively priced machines such as the 250 NK and 300SR - especially in Asia and Europe.
On June 1, 2025, CFMoto's motorcycle distribution in Germany and Austria will once again change importers: Hans Leeb GmbH, based in Wolfsberg, Austria, will take over responsibility - succeeding KTM AG, which is withdrawing from CFMoto distribution after less than two years. KTM had previously been responsible for imports, before that KSR. Leeb is now the third importer within a short space of time. A situation that CFMoto would like to stabilize through a planned joint venture with Leeb from 2026.
Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto is opening a new chapter with the newly founded sub-brand CFLite. The brand was officially launched at the Makina Moto Expo 2025 in the Philippines - a clear indication of the target markets it is aiming for. CFLite focuses on affordable motorcycles with smaller displacements that are specifically designed for Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as parts of South America.
The cooperation between Pierer Mobility AG and the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto is coming to an end: On May 31, 2025, the official distribution of CFMoto motorcycles in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Great Britain by the KTM parent company will end. Pierer Mobility had only taken over distribution in 2023 - now, just over two years later, the separation comes as a surprise. The succession plan for sales has so far remained open, fueling speculation about the future of CFMoto in the DACH region.
CFMoto is planning to enter the modern supersport mid-range segment with the upcoming 750SR-R - and is not only focusing on performance, but also on innovative aerodynamics. CFMoto is launching a special edition of the 450 SR limited to 451 units - the CFMoto 450 SR Aspar Replica. The machine is based on the sporty offshoot of the 450 series, which includes naked bikes, adventure bikes and cruiser variants in addition to the supersport model. With the Aspar Replica, the Chinese manufacturer is celebrating an extremely successful 2024 Moto3 season, in which David Alonso won the riders' title with 14 victories. In doing so, he surpassed the previous record set by Valentino Rossi in 1997, who won eleven races in one season. In addition, CFMoto secured both the team and manufacturer titles, thus completing the Moto3 class triple.
Automatic and semi-automatic motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular, but outside of the scooter segment, most manufacturers rely on electronically controlled manual transmissions instead of continuously variable transmissions (CVT). CFMoto seems to want to change this: A newly filed patent shows a parallel-twin engine combined with a belt-driven CVT transmission.
The Chinese brand CFMoto continues to work on expanding its range on the international market and presenting new models. Following the presentation of the three-cylinder super sports bike CFMoto 675 SR-R at the EICMA 2023 in Milan, another model based on the same technical platform has now been spotted in China: the CFMoto 675 NK, a naked bike variant.
Seat belts are a matter of course in cars, but on motorcycles they seem inappropriate at first glance. Nevertheless, Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto is exploring the possibility of integrating seat belts on motorcycles to increase safety through new technologies such as automatic braking. However, this idea raises many questions and is met with skepticism within the motorcycle scene.
CFMoto has unveiled the 675 SR-R, a new motorcycle that enriches the supersport category. The Chinese manufacturer presented this model for the first time in China in 2023 and then showed it at the EICMA 2023 in Milan. The 675 SR-R is the first production motorcycle with a three-cylinder engine from China.
CFMoto recently presented the 500SR Voom, a sports bike that is visually reminiscent of the legendary sports bikes of the 80s and 90s. With its retro-inspired design and a 500cc four-cylinder engine, the 500SR Voom brings back the era of small, high-torque sports bikes. The design is reminiscent of classics such as the Suzuki GSX-R400, Honda CBR400R and Kawasaki ZXR400, which shaped an entire generation of motorcyclists.
CFMoto has recently caused a stir with the presentation of two new sports bikes, the 675RR and the 500SR. While the 675RR has already been presented in more detail, the 500SR still remains a secret. CFMoto has announced a major recall in the Americas for some of its motorcycle models, specifically the 700 CL-X range from 2022 to 2023. The reason for this recall is a potential problem with the programming of the motorcycles' anti-lock braking system (ABS). Faulty ABS can lead to a delayed braking response, particularly when the brake lever is applied multiple times, which can significantly affect rider safety.
CFMoto has recently released the technical specifications of its brand new 675cc three-cylinder engine. This engine will be the heart of the upcoming CFMoto 675 SR, a sportbike prototype that was unveiled at the ZhuZhou International Festival back in October this year.
