Eye-catching design in yellow and black
The name “Kiiro” – the Japanese word for yellow – already reveals the most striking feature of the special model: the sporty fairing shines in bright yellow, complemented by black accents on the tank, the rear fairing and around the front headlight. The design is complemented by grey rims and an aluminum rear frame module, also in grey.
Equipped with accessories from the Suzuki catalog
Compared to the standard version, the Kiiro edition offers extended equipment with components from Suzuki’s accessories range. Included are, among other things:
- One-piece seat cover (Seat Cowl)
- Tinted windshield
- Milled parts from Gilles for clutch and brake levers
- Tank pad
- Two-tone seat with GSX logo
These extras underline the sporty look of the machine and give it an individual appearance.
Technical basis: GSX-8R with 270-degree twin
The special model is also based on the familiar technical package of the GSX-8R. The focus is on the 776 cc parallel twin with 270-degree ignition offset, which is also used in the GSX-8S. The power output is 81.7 hp (60 kW) at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 78 Nm (57.5 lb-ft).
The chassis combines a steel frame with a separate aluminum rear frame. Showa provides the suspension with an upside-down fork at the front and a central suspension strut at the rear.
State-of-the-art electronics and brakes
The standard equipment includes a bidirectional quickshifter, a color TFT display and various selectable riding modes and traction control levels. The front brakes are fitted with two 310 mm brake discs and radially mounted Nissin four-piston callipers, while the rear brakes are fitted with a single-piston calliper on a 240 mm disc – identical to the standard version of the GSX-8R.
Price and availability
With a surcharge of £500 (around €580 or $620) compared to the standard version, the GSX-8R Kiiro remains comparatively affordable despite its limited edition and special features. However, those interested should hurry – the model is intended exclusively for the British market and is limited to 60 units.
