In the world of motorcycles and in the spotlight
As part of Autolook Week Torino, held in Turin, Italy on September 2 and 3, 2023, Suzuki Italia pulled out all the stops. Although Suzuki has largely retired from motorcycle racing, the brand is not letting its glorious past be forgotten. Thus, motorcycle legends Kevin Schwantz and Franco Uncini were also present at the event to commemorate the glory days with their respective champion machines, the 1993 RGV500 and the 1982 RG500.
Kevin Schwantz Edition: A rare beauty
Particular focus was placed on the presentation of an extremely limited edition called the “Kevin Schwantz Edition.” This special edition honors Kevin Schwantz’s 1993 victory in the 500 class and is available for no less than three different Suzuki products: the GSX-8S motorcycle, the Swift Sport hybrid car and the DF200AP outboard.
All of these models sport the signature white-and-red design of the number 34 that helped Schwantz win the title in 1993. A special feature of the bike is a standard single seat cover modeled after Schwantz’s race bike.
Limited edition and authenticity
The Kevin Schwantz Edition will be offered by Suzuki Italia in an edition of only five units per model. All copies will be signed by the master himself and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The purchase is possible only through special web links of Suzuki Italia and is not available in traditional points of sale.
Cost and payment modalities
The Kevin Schwantz Edition motorcycle costs €11,490, the equivalent of about $12,318, and a deposit of €500 (circa $536) must be paid upfront. The entire purchase process must then be completed within 30 days of the deposit being paid, otherwise the contract may be cancelled.
Technical Specifications
Technically, the GSX-8S Kevin Schwantz Edition remains unchanged. It features a water-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 83 hp (82 hp / 61 kW). The maximum torque is 78 Nm at 6,800 rpm. Weight is 202 kg, the equivalent of about 445 pounds.
Availability and delivery
According to Suzuki Italia, the Kevin Schwantz Edition offer will remain open until all units are sold or until September 30, 2023 at the latest, with delivery approximately 45 days after receipt of order.
