The Ducati Streetfighter V4 and V4S will be recalled due to a problem with the flywheel. An oil leak could be caused, which could lead to a fall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) defect report, Ducati expects that the problem could occur in about one percent of the 156 motorcycles affected in America.
Strictly speaking, the Streetfighter V4 and V4S from the production period between July 3rd and 30th, 2020 are affected.
According to the report, the steel used for forging may have had cracks that could still be present in the finished product. The cracks could cause the wheel to break. This in turn could damage the cover and eventually lead to oil leakage. In the worst case, an accident could result.
So far, however, there have not been any accidents due to the problem, as the corresponding models have not even been delivered to the customers. The models should still be in “Ducati’s network” so that the fault can be rectified before they are delivered to the customers. However, this could possibly lead to delivery delays, although Ducati has not yet commented on this.
Dealers will be notified of the recall SRV-RCL-20-002 between August 12th and 19th. They will then have to check the production date of the flywheel and replace it if necessary.
The recall is from the American area. However, since motorcycles are usually produced in one factory for the worldwide market, other markets could also be affected by the recall.
