QJMotor SRK 1000 RC Ten 78: China’s path to the superbike

The increasing efforts of Chinese manufacturers to develop technically advanced and competitive products in the motorcycle sector are clearly reflected in the rise of Chinese manufacturers.  One example is the QJMotor SRK 1000 RC Ten 78 recently presented at EICMA 2023, which is characterized by its collaboration with the Italian brand MV Agusta and its former designers Adrian Morton and Paolo Bianchi.  QJMotor, a company previously known for its collaborations with MV Agusta, has unveiled two impressive models: the SRK 900 RR and the SRK 1000 RC Ten 78.

Design and technology

The SRK 1000 RC Ten 78 embodies a blend of Italian elegance and Chinese engineering.  The motorcycle is powered by an older 1,078cc in-line four-cylinder engine from MV Agusta, which was originally designed for models such as the F4 1078 RR and Brutale 1078 RR.  Despite its origins, this engine was tuned for the SRK 1000 RC to 144 hp (106 kW) and a torque of 112 Nm, which suggests an adaptation to modern emission standards.

The weight of the motorcycle remains impressively low at 198 kilograms, including a full 19-liter petrol tank.  This is due in part to the construction of steel trellis tube and aluminum elements, which appears to have been taken directly from MV Agusta.  The aluminum single-sided swingarm completes the overall picture and underlines the technical sophistication of the motorcycle.

Equipment and safety

Öhlins components were initially used for the suspension, but a cooperation with Marzocchi, who are already close production partners of QJMotor, is planned for series production.  Brembo brakes complete the high-quality equipment.

The SRK 1000 RC Ten 78 also offers modern features such as a quickshifter, lean angle-sensitive ABS, LED lights and a TFT display.  Integrated cameras can be seen at the front and rear.  The 190/55-17 rear tire is a further indication of the motorcycle’s superbike ambitions.

Future prospects

Although QJMotor has not yet provided any precise details on the availability and distribution of the SRK 1000 RC Ten 78, the presentation in Europe indicates that the company is pursuing global ambitions.  This motorcycle could be an important step towards becoming the first Chinese company to bring a truly modern superbike to the market.

Conclusion

With the SRK 1000 RC Ten 78, QJMotor impressively demonstrates that Chinese motorcycle manufacturers are capable of competing with established brands in terms of performance and design.  By combining traditional MV Agusta technology with innovative design and modern technology, the result is a motorcycle that is likely to cause a stir both on the road and in the superbike scene.
