BMW Motorrad has revised its popular R 18 models and is now presenting them with technical innovations, new design options and extended optional equipment. The aim of the revision was to optimize comfort and handling and to adapt the entire series to the Euro 5+ standard.
BMW Motorrad has been represented in the cruiser segment with the R 18 since 2020. This was followed in the same year by the R 18 Classic, a nostalgically inspired variant. The model series was supplemented in 2021 by the R 18 Transcontinental and the R 18 B, each of which specializes in luxurious travel and relaxed cruising. Finally, the R 18 Roctane was added in 2023, setting new accents with its custom bagger design. For the 2025 model year, all models will receive updates in terms of technology, design and equipment.
Technical highlights: The big boxer is now even more powerful
All BMW R 18 models now meet the Euro 5+ standard. The 1,802 cm³ Big Boxer now offers 91 hp (67 kW) and a maximum torque of 163 Nm at 3,000 rpm – an increase of 5 Nm. Between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, more than 150 Nm are continuously available, which should ensure powerful and confident acceleration.
BMW R 18: Modern design for the cruiser
The revised R 18 presents itself with a more dynamic appearance. The rear and front mudguards have been redesigned, while an 18-inch rear wheel (previously 16 inches) is intended to improve handling. New cast aluminum wheels with seven double spokes underline the modern look.
