The decision was eagerly awaited, and now it’s official: Marco Bezzecchi is joining the Aprilia factory team for the 2025 MotoGP season.  The Italian rider will line up alongside Jorge Martin on the Aprilia RS-GP, forming the Italian brand’s new rider duo.

The signing of Bezzecchi

Massimo Rivola, the head of the Aprilia racing department, was relieved after Marco Bezzecchi’s move was announced.  The 25-year-old Italian, who previously rode for the Ducati VR46 team, signed a contract for at least two years.  Rivola explained: “The piece of the puzzle came together quite quickly in the end.  I am happy for Aprilia to start next year with the duo of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi.”

The signing of Bezzecchi came about after intensive negotiations, especially after it was announced that Maverick Vinales would be moving to KTM.  Rivola praised Bezzecchi as an exceptional rider who can adapt quickly, especially on wet tracks and new circuits.

Performance and expectations

Despite a mixed 2024 season, in which Bezzecchi is currently 11th in the World Championship, Aprilia’s confidence remains unbroken.  Rivola emphasized the Italian’s exceptional abilities and his impressive performance in new challenges.  Bezzecchi has recorded three Grand Prix victories, nine podiums and four pole positions in his MotoGP career to date.

Aprilia has high hopes for the new rider line-up.  Rivola commented: “We are very happy with our line-up for 2025. Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi were our first choice due to their age, talent, courage and determination.”

Development of the Aprilia RS-GP

An important aspect of the change is the further development of the Aprilia RS-GP for the 2025 season. As both Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro will no longer be part of the team, the test team led by Lorenzo Savadori will take on a central role.  Rivola is confident that Savadori and the team will make the necessary progress to remain competitive.

Outlook and goals

With the signing of Bezzecchi and Martin, Aprilia wants to open a new chapter in MotoGP.  Both riders have already proven their talent and determination in the past.  Rivola said: “We can’t wait to welcome Bez to Noale.  An Italian bike and an Italian rider are particularly exciting as a duo, but even more exciting is the combination with Jorge Martin.”

The 2025 MotoGP season promises to be exciting, not only for Aprilia, but also for the fans who are eagerly awaiting the performances of the new rider duo.

Conclusion

Marco Bezzecchi’s move to Aprilia marks a significant step for the team and the rider himself.  With the new rider line-up, Aprilia is focusing on talent, determination and the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.  The coming season will show how successful this strategy will be and whether the team can achieve its ambitious goals.
