Marc Marquez will not compete in the two races in Austria and will be replaced by Stefan Bradl.

As reported World Champion Marc Marquez broke his right upper arm in a crash in Jerez. After an operation he wanted to race the next race weekend, only a few days later, but then had to give up because the plate that was used to stabilize the bone broke.

A second operation was necessary and he didn’t start at the last race weekend in Brno.

As has now been announced, he will also not compete in the two races in Austria on 16 and 23 August. It seems that he does not want to take any further risk to make the injury worse and let it heal properly.

This makes sense, especially since his chances of winning the World Championship in 2020 are pretty much zero. So far this season he has not been able to score a single point (in three races so far). Making up this gap in the shortened 2020 season would probably be almost impossible for Marc Marquez.

Honda test rider Stefan Bradl will contest the two races for Honda.
