Kawasaki Z500 Sugomi Edition: An exclusive special edition for France

With the Z500 Sugomi Edition, Kawasaki is launching a limited version of the popular Z500.  This edition, which is only available in France, has been visually upgraded and is aimed at riders who are not only looking for a powerful entry-level machine, but also value an eye-catching and sporty design.  Although the mechanical characteristics of the Z500 remain unchanged, the Sugomi Edition impresses with its special look and exclusive details.

An aggressive look: what makes the Sugomi Edition special

The Z500 Sugomi Edition stands out above all with its eye-catching design, which emphasizes the aggressive lines of the Z series.  The graphics and decor of the machine have been designed to give the impression of being in motion, even when stationary.  The word “Sugomi”, which comes from the Japanese and describes a fearsome presence, is reflected in every detail of this edition.  The term stands for an aura that evokes both respect and awe, while symbolizing the energy of a hunter about to pounce.  This philosophy has characterized the design of many Kawasaki models since 2014, starting with the Z1000.

What makes the Sugomi Edition so special is its unique look.  The machine comes with a special decor that makes the Z500 look sharper and more muscular.  The lines have been redesigned to make the machine look even more dynamic.  The “Sugomi” ideogram is prominently placed in several places on the machine, such as on the tank, and underlines the special character of this edition.

Two exclusive color variants

The Z500 Sugomi Edition is offered in two different color combinations, of which only 200 will be produced.  These color options allow riders to emphasize their individual style:

  • – Red Candy Persimmon / Black Metallic Flat Spark / Gray Metallic Matte Graphenesteel
  • – Green Candy Lime / Black Metallic Spark / Gray Metallic Matte Graphenesteel

Both versions share the same design elements that define the Z500 in its basic form, but offer a modern, eye-catching interpretation of the traditional Kawasaki color palette.

Technical features of the Z500 Sugomi Edition

Apart from the visual changes, the Z500 Sugomi Edition remains technically unchanged compared to the standard model.  It is powered by a 500 cc parallel twin engine that delivers an output of 48 hp (35 kW) at 8,500 rpm.  This engine makes the Z500 an ideal choice for beginners and riders looking for a lightweight yet agile machine.  The torque is 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm, which offers a well-controlled power delivery.

With an unladen weight of 175 kg (386 lbs), the Z500 is relatively light and therefore easy to handle even for less experienced riders.  The chassis and brakes also remain unchanged from the standard version, meaning that the Z500 Sugomi Edition retains a proven base.

Price and availability

The Kawasaki Z500 Sugomi Edition will be available from French Kawasaki dealers from the end of September.  The price for this special edition is €6,799 (approx. USD 7,140), which places it in the lower to middle segment of entry-level naked bikes.

Conclusion: A visually upgraded Z500

The Kawasaki Z500 Sugomi Edition is first and foremost a visual upgrade of the already established Z500. The aggressive design and limited availability in two exclusive colors make it particularly attractive to younger riders looking for an affordable but stylish entry-level machine.  Technically, however, it remains identical to the standard version and therefore offers proven reliability and riding pleasure.
