The evolution of the Ninja: Inspired by racing

Kawasaki recently unveiled new models in its legendary Ninja series to mark its 40th anniversary.  The 2024 series includes special editions in the ZXR livery, which is inspired by the racetrack and comes in blue, white and green.  This striking color scheme honors the Ninja series’ long and successful history in motorsport.

Retro meets modern: special editions of the Ninja 1000SX and Ninja 650

In a nostalgic throwback to the famous colors of the Ninja 900 from 1985, Kawasaki has now also included the Ninja 1000SX and Ninja 650 in the anniversary program.  These models are presented in a striking black, silver and red, based on the early models that were sold in Europe under the GPz brand.  This color combination reflects the beginnings of the Ninja in the USA and builds a bridge between past and present.

A design that breathes history

The special editions are characterized by the two-tone design in Firecracker Red and Ebony, inspired by the Kawasaki GPZ900R from 1985. Particularly noteworthy is the carefully chosen silver line that separates the red and black elements, mimicking the brightness of the original.  A 40th anniversary emblem is emblazoned on the tank, reminiscent of the racing stickers of the 1980s.  It combines the classic “Ninja” logo with the “Liquid-Cooled” lettering, which symbolizes the transition from air-cooled to water-cooled engines at the end of the 1980s.  Another detail is the silver-colored rim strips, which imitate the machined wheels of the 1980s.

A coveted collector’s item

The anniversary models of the Ninja series are already highly sought-after and collectible.  They will be available in showrooms in the 2024 season alongside a wide range of standard colors.

Kawasaki and the future of the Ninja

With these anniversary editions, Kawasaki aims to appeal to a new generation of riders and invite them to celebrate four decades of Ninja history in the best possible way: on the open road, at the handlebars of a motorsport icon.
