Indian Motorcycle’s new Sport Chief is said to combine timeless American styling with premium performance components to set a new bar for American V-twin performance cruisers. The Sport Chief is the latest model in the Indian Chief series and one of the most aggressive versions Indian Motorcycle has ever built. The motorcycle pays homage to the glory days of American motorcycle culture while offering premium components and modern technology.
Premium components for outstanding performance
Indian Motorcycle focused on performance and premium components from proven brands when designing the Sport Chief. For example, the Sport Chief features a KYB upside-down fork, which is also used on Indian Challenger models and is said to provide superior handling and ride. Brembo dual-disc, four-piston brakes with semi-floating calipers are said to provide convincing stopping power, while Fox Piggyback rear shocks increase suspension travel to 100 mm and lean angle clearance to 29.5 degrees.
A jet-black Thunderstroke 116 engine with 162 Nm of torque forms the heart of the Sport Chief. The bike features quarter-fairing, new moto-style handlebars with machined triple clamps and 152 mm risers, and sporty cast wheels with Pirelli Night Dragon tires. The center-mounted footpegs and Gunfighter seat offer a commanding yet comfortable riding position, while the 15.1-liter fuel tank, bobbed rear fender, 2-in-2 exhaust system, LED lighting and keyless ignition should make the riding experience even more enjoyable. With three selectable riding modes – Sport, Standard and Tour – riders can customize the riding experience.
Premium technology and accessories
The Sport Chief also features assistance technology combined with Indian Motorcycles’ best-in-class 101mm touchscreen powered by Ride Command. The touchscreen maintains its classic look as it visually resembles a round analog instrument cluster. It can be conveniently controlled via the controls or digital display and offers multiple interfaces, including two different display configurations, motorcycle and ride information, and turn-by-turn navigation.
Indian Motorcycle offers a selection of accessories for the Sport Chief to customize the motorcycle to your own needs and preferences. These include performance, style and comfort accessories such as adjustable Fox Piggyback shocks, a new Chief Pathfinder LED adaptive headlight, new 254mm moto handlebar risers, various windshields and bags, and a choice of seats for optimized ergonomics and added comfort.
Colors
The 2023 Sport Chief is available in Black Smoke, Ruby Smoke and Stealth Gray. Indian Motorcycle aims to set a new benchmark for American-V-twin performance cruisers with the Sport Chief, offering a motorcycle that combines premium performance components with timeless American styling.
