With the MSX125 Grom, Honda is launching a new version of its popular fun bike on the market.  Originally launched in 1963 as the Monkey, Honda has continuously developed the concept over the years.  With the 2025 model year, the latest version of the MSX125 Grom is now also coming to Germany and once again promises riding fun and practical mobility in a compact form.

New design and improved features

The 2025 MSX125 Grom presents itself with a revised, sportier design.  The previously distinctive, oversized rivets are now less conspicuous and the new front spoiler underlines the dynamic look.  Newly designed tank covers with knee moldings and modified side panels ensure a modern look.  The bodywork has been designed so that it is easy to remove and therefore offers plenty of scope for customization with stickers, graphics or foiling.

The compact LCD display has been improved and now shows a speedometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and clock as well as a rev counter and gear indicator.  LED headlights ensure optimum visibility and contribute to the modern equipment.

Colors and prices

The MSX125 Grom is available in three colors: Candy Blue, Pearl White and Matte Black Metallic.  In Thailand it is available from 69,900 baht, in Japan from 390,500 yen and in the USA from 3,599 USD.  The price for Germany has not yet been officially announced, but the previous version costs 4,390 euros.

Engine and performance

The new MSX125 Grom remains technically almost unchanged.  It is equipped with an air-cooled 125 cm³ four-stroke single-cylinder engine that delivers 9.8 hp (7.2 kW) at 7,250 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.  With a five-speed gearbox, it reaches a top speed of 94 km/h and consumes around 1.5 liters per 100 km (66.7 km/liter).

Robust chassis

The chassis of the MSX125 Grom is based on a mono-backbone steel frame, which offers stability and riding safety.  The 31 mm USD fork at the front and the monoshock at the rear ensure precise suspension and handling.  With a weight of only 103 kg (227 lbs) and a seat height of 761 mm (30 inches), the Grom is easy to maneuver and ideal for city riding.  The 12 inch wheels with 120/70-12 front and 130/70-12 rear tires add to the agility and stability.

Original accessories and packages

For the first time, Honda is offering specially designed original accessories for the MSX125 Grom.  The comfort package includes sturdy hand protectors and a tinted windshield, which offers additional protection in bad weather.  The Travel package includes custom-fit saddlebags with a total volume of 10 liters and a practical luggage rack.  Both packages are tailored to the rider’s needs and increase the comfort and versatility of the Grom.

Customization options

The range of accessories is supplemented by an expandable rear bag with a volume of 15 to 22 liters and a USB socket.  These parts can be purchased individually so that every rider can customize their Grom according to their personal preferences.

Conclusion

With the new MSX125 Grom for the 2025 model year, Honda offers an attractive fun bike that impresses with its modern design, powerful engine and numerous customization options.  The compact design and improved features make it an ideal choice for city rides and everyday use.  Whether as a practical means of transportation or as a stylish lifestyle product – the MSX125 Grom remains Honda’s small machine for big dreams.
