The return of a champion
Since its market launch, the CBR600RR has won numerous titles in motorsport and is known for its impressive performance. Now, after disappearing from showrooms for a while, it returns with updated technology and ready for a new era. Not only on the racetrack, but also on public roads, it promises an unparalleled riding experience with its advanced electronics and sophisticated design.
A heart for high revs
The engine of the Honda CBR600RR, a 599 cm³ in-line four-cylinder, delivers 121 PS (89 kW, approx. 119 hp) at 14,250 rpm and unleashes a torque of 63 Nm at 11,500 rpm. Advanced material selection and optimizations in engine technology ensure exceptional rev capacity and durability. The engine benefits from finely tuned valve timing and a throttle by wire system, which guarantees a precise fuel supply. The intake cross-sections have been enlarged for increased flow capacity. An assist anti-hopping clutch reduces manual force when clutching and prevents the rear wheel from locking during rapid downshifts. This ingenious combination of power and technology ensures superior performance on the road and on the racetrack, with a weight of 193 kg (full tank).
Inspired by racing: The electronics
The CBR600RR shines with engine electronics based on the race-proven Throttle by Wire system of the RC213V-S, adapted from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. This system (including 6-axis sensors) enables precise control of the throttle valve position and optimally adapts the engine power to the rider’s needs. With the 9-stage Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), the rider always retains control of the rear wheel, developed with the support of HRC factory riders to keep spinning within limits. In addition, the bike offers three pre-programmed riding modes – Fast, Fun and Comfortable – as well as two additional modes that can be individually configured by the rider, allowing flexible adaptation to different riding conditions. Wheelie Control, tuned via driving dynamics sensors, helps to keep the front wheel on the ground even under heavy acceleration. A standard quickshifter ensures fast gear changes without interrupting traction, allowing smooth upshifts without clutch actuation.
Masterful control and stability
The Honda CBR600RR relies on an advanced chassis design that aims to take riding precision and performance to a new level. Its lightweight aluminum bridge frame and innovative Unit Pro-Link swingarm ensure optimum power distribution and impressive handling characteristics. At the front, the motorcycle is guided by a 41 mm Showa Big Piston Upside Down fork, which stands for excellent damping and road holding. It and the Showa monoshock absorber are fully adjustable. Added to this is the state-of-the-art 6-axis sensor system, which records all of the bike’s movements.
A hydraulic but electronically controlled steering damper (HESD) automatically adjusts to the speed to ensure stability at high speeds and remain agile in city traffic.
Deceleration is ensured by radially mounted Nissin four-piston brake callipers on 310 mm floating discs and a precisely controllable radial piston brake pump. This advanced technology combined with the cornering ABS, which is slip- and lean angle-dependent, and the Rear Lift Control, which keeps the rear wheel climb under control, makes the CBR600RR a motorcycle that aims to impress with precision and safety in every riding situation.
Dynamic design meets functionality
The aerodynamic design of the CBR600RR is not only focused on optimum performance, but also has a certain aggressiveness. With a drag coefficient (cW value) of 0.555, it represents the best value in its class.
These values are functionally complemented by the integrated winglets, which provide additional downforce on the front wheel, thus increasing grip in fast bends and reducing unwanted lift of the front wheel when accelerating. These advanced aerodynamics are supported by a design that is consistently focused on lightweight construction and optimum mass centralization.
The full-color TFT screen allows the rider to choose between different views for different areas of use and provides all important information at a glance.
Particularly practical for the race track: the shift light display and the integrated lap timer.
The technical equipment is rounded off by LED lighting all round, an emergency brake signal system (ESS) to warn other road users and an immobilizer (HISS) that protects the motorcycle against unauthorized use.
Colors that make racing history
With the color options Matt Ballistic Black Metallic and Grand Prix Red HRC Tricolour, the racing DNA of the CBR600RR is also visually underlined. Both color variants stand for the passion and success that Honda has celebrated on the racetracks of this world.
Tailor-made accessories for individual requirements
Honda offers a range of original accessories that make the CBR600RR even more individual and functional. From the Sport package, which emphasizes the racing character, to the Comfort package, which offers practical solutions for everyday riding, the motorcycle can be adapted to personal preferences.
