Holzhauer Racing Performance developed this Honda CBR1000RR specifically for use on the racetrack. Originally designed as a street motorcycle, the SC59 has been extensively modified: In addition to a chassis from Öhlins and Holzhauer, it was fitted with a carbon rear frame and fairing, a quickshifter, racing electronics, special forged rims, and numerous other components such as an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, a modified airbox, an improved oil cooler, and special handlebars.
The technology is top-notch: racing electronics control traction control as well as wheelie and spin control. According to the manufacturer, a complete data sheet on the components installed is available for viewing.
The machine weighs 172 kg (around 379 lbs) dry. It has an output of 200 hp (147 kW) – the maximum torque is not explicitly stated, but is likely to be in the usual range for comparable Fireblade racing machines.
History and use
The CBR1000RR was used by Michael Schumacher between 2008 and 2009 after his first retirement from Formula 1 in various motorcycle races and test days. The motorcycle bears the start number 77, as evidenced by numerous photos showing Schumacher in the saddle of this Fireblade. According to the speedometer, the motorcycle was ridden a total of 3,752 km (approximately 2,332 miles) – exclusively on the race track.
A serious accident with this Fireblade at the time caused Schumacher’s return to Formula 1 to be postponed by a year. The machine has not been ridden since then. Due to the long period of inactivity, the seller recommends a comprehensive inspection and maintenance before it is used again.
Tax information and special features of the auction
In addition to the actual machine, the offer includes a Schuberth helmet signed by Schumacher and signed motorcycle gloves from Held.
Private buyers should note that, according to current VAT regulations, the motorcycle is considered “as new” because its total mileage is less than 6,000 km. According to the auction house, it will therefore be sold primarily for export and commercial trade.
Technical development and market value
Although the CBR1000RR SC59 has been surpassed technically by modern superbikes over the past 15 years, its history and elaborate racing specifications make it unique. Comparative figures from 2008 prove its top level at the time – for example, Martin Bauer drove a lap time of 1:43 min on the long course in Hockenheim with this model.
Despite its extensive racing history and prominent connection to Michael Schumacher, potential buyers should assess its value realistically. There are now more technically advanced alternatives available in the asking price range. However, for collectors and motorsport fans, the sentimental value of this unique piece should not be underestimated.
