With the Fat Boy Gray Ghost, Harley-Davidson presents the fifth model in its exclusive Icons Motorcycle Collection - strictly limited to 1,990 units worldwide.  The special edition honors the 35th anniversary of the Fat Boy, one of the most famous names in the motorcycle world, with a striking appearance and technical enhancements.  The price in Germany is €30,700 (approx. $33,100).

Homage to the original from 1990

From its market launch in 1990, the Fat Boy shaped the so-called “Fat Custom” segment.  It combined the design language of the Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide from 1949 with modern technology at the time.  With its imposing silhouette, closed disk wheels and massive appearance, it set new design accents that have endured to this day.  The new Gray Ghost continues this legacy – both visually and technically.

Exclusive design with “Reflection Finish”

The visual highlight of the Fat Boy Gray Ghost is the so-called Reflection Finish, which is created using an elaborate PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process.  In this process, an aluminum alloy is vaporized in a vacuum and applied to the tank and mudguards.  The result: a chrome-like shine that is resistant to corrosion and makes the entire motorcycle look as if it has been cast from a single mold.  The frame was powder-coated in silver, and numerous chrome-plated add-on parts such as the side covers underline the high-quality appearance.

Classic design elements have also been adopted and given a modern interpretation: The air filter is round like the original model, yellow accents on the rocker boxes, engine covers and tank console insert are reminiscent of the original colors from 1990. A black seat with lacing and leather tassels, a leather-covered tank strap and three-dimensional tank emblems complete the authentic appearance.  The serial number is engraved in the tank console and a special medallion at the rear indicates that the bike is part of the Icons Collection.

New Milwaukee-Eight 117 V2 with 102 hp

Propulsion is provided by the new Milwaukee-Eight 117 V2 engine, which was introduced in model year 2025.  With 75 kW (102 hp) and a maximum torque of 165 Nm at 2,750 rpm, it significantly exceeds the performance of its predecessor.  The engine has been extensively revised:

  • New 2-in-2 exhaust system with two catalytic converters and targeted sound tuning
  • Revised combustion chamber shape, oval intake ducts and optimized valve seats
  • Improved oil cooling thanks to a frame-mounted oil cooler with channels in the cylinder heads

These measures result in better response, more efficient combustion and optimized thermal performance – especially at slow speeds and high outside temperatures.

Revised Softail technology for more comfort and control

As part of the 2025 model update, the suspension and electronics of the Softail series have also been extensively modernized:

  • 49 mm dual-bending valving fork for more comfort and precise feedback
  • Hydraulically adjustable central suspension strut for adaptation to load and road conditions
  • Three riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport) for tuning performance and assistance systems
  • Cornering-optimized ABS (C-ABS), traction control system (C-TCS) and drag torque control system (C-DSCS)
  • Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as standard
  • Full LED lighting
  • New USB-C port under the tank
  • 5-inch analog digital instrument with multifunction display

In addition, the connections for heated clothing have now been positioned more ergonomically under the seat
