The American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is currently revising its own company structure to get out of the crisis and to better position itself for the future.
Now there are rumors that they want to use Thailand as their main hub for the Asia-Pacific markets and therefore are looking for a new partnership.
There is talk that Mahindras subsidiary Classic Legends or Hero Motocorp could be this partner. This would mean that the contract manufacturing of completely new small capacity motorcycles would be taken over by the partner. The smaller Harleys should be able to compete with Bajaj / KTM and TVS / BMW.
BSA and also Jawa belong to Classic Legends and are now being revived. Hero MotoCorp recently announced that they would like to do more in the premium segment, which could be an indication of the cooperation with Harley.
At the moment a possible partnership has not been announced yet, so it must be considered a rumor for now.
