In America, Harley is recalling a good 31,000 motorcycles in of the Sportster series, because the bulb covers were coated incorrectly.
Contrary to the specification, they were high-gloss chrome-plated, which leads to excessive heat generation. This could cause to burn a hole in the glass of the bulb, which destroys the bulb and causes it to fail.
The following models built between 2019 and 2021 are affected:
- Harley-Davidson XL 1200 C
- Harley-Davidson XL 1200 CX
- Harley-Davidson XL 1200 NS
- Harley-Davidson XL 1200 X
- Harley-Davidson XL 1200 XS
- Harley-Davidson XL 883 L
- Harley-Davidson XL 883 N
In addition, accessory headlights that were offered for the following models are also affected:
- Harley-Davidson Sportster 2005-2019
- Harley-Davidson Softail 2005-2017
