Dunlop Trailmax Raid: For adventurers who know no limits

The Trailmax Raid is a new tire from Dunlop designed for travel enduro riders, offering 50% road and 50% off-road focus.  It is based on technologies and know-how from Dunlop’s touring enduro, sport touring and off-road tire segments and combines excellent wet and dry road performance with high off-road capability.

The Trailmax Raid: Designed for every adventure

The all-new Trailmax Raid is Dunlop’s answer to the needs of touring enduro riders looking for a high-performance on/off-road tire.  Fusing technologies and expertise from Dunlop’s touring enduro, sport touring and off-road tire segments, the result is a tire that combines excellent wet and dry road performance with high off-road capability.  The Trailmax Raid is perfectly balanced, with a focus on 50% road and 50% off-road.

Design borrowed from the D908 RR Rally Raid

The striking lug design of the Trailmax Raid was derived from the Dunlop D908 RR Rally Raid and further developed to meet the demands of modern touring enduros.  The tread pattern has been optimized with additional ridges between the tread blocks in the center of the tread, improving handling and stability on heavy bikes.  In the shoulder area, the gaps between the tread blocks have been closed to increase grip at higher lean angles on the road.

Innovative technologies in the Trailmax Raid

The Trailmax Raid benefits from a number of technologies also used in Dunlop’s premium road tires:

  • Dynamic Front Formula (DFF): this approach to front tire development provides an ideal balance of neutral handling, excellent feedback and easy turn-in.
  • Hi-Silica rubber compound: The increased silica concentration guarantees more flexibility in cold conditions as well as improved wet grip and mileage. The innovative compound combines the off-road characteristics with the performance features of Dunlop’s road-touring enduro tires.
  • Carcass Tension Control System: The different tension zones in the tire carcass optimize handling and maximize the contact patch.
  • JointLess Belt: Dunlop’s latest evolution of the race-proven JLB construction offers even more stability and precise feedback.

Dunlop’s complete travel enduro tire offering.

The Trailmax Raid (50% road, 50% off-road) with M+S labeling complements Dunlop’s travel enduro tire portfolio, which includes the road-oriented Trailmax Meridian (90% road, 10% off-road) and the off-road capable Trailmax Mission (70% road, 30% off-road), which also carries an M+S label.  In addition, there is the unique MUTANT crossover tire and the D908 RR Rally Raid off-road and desert tire specially developed for competitions, which has road approval with M+S marking despite FIM regulations.  Dunlop also offers the affordable Trailmax Mixtour as a second-line on/off-road tire.

Luca Davide Andreoni, Marketing Manager of Dunlop Motorcycle Europe, comments, “By combining our expertise from the off-road, touring enduro and sport-touring segments, we have been able to develop a true 50/50 tire that delivers outstanding performance in a wide range of conditions.  From a trade perspective, the Trailmax Raid is an important product because the on/off-road segment is growing faster than any other sub-segment of the touring enduro segment.

From a rider’s perspective, the new Trailmax Raid offers very high performance characteristics and plenty of confidence on both dry and wet roads.  Even off-road, riders can always rely on high traction and braking values.”

The Trailmax Raid impresses drivers with high performance characteristics and plenty of confidence on dry and wet roads.  They can also rely on high traction and braking values off the road.

The Trailmax Raid: Versatile for a wide range of motorcycles

The new Trailmax Raid will be available in three front tire sizes (19 and 21 inches) and six rear dimensions (17 and 18 inches).  This makes it suitable for high-performance touring enduros such as the BMW R 1250 GS or KTM 1290 Super Adventure, as well as for mid-displacement trail bikes such as the Kawasaki KLR 600 or Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom.  Four of the nine dimensions are already available now, and all sizes will be on sale from May.
