The new Ducati Panigale V2 presents itself as a modernized, completely redesigned sports machine from Ducati, which is intended to continue the success story of twin-cylinder models such as the 748, 848 and 959.  It simply adopts the name of the predecessor model and aims to offer lighter and more versatile performance thanks to the new 90° V2 engine.  With a weight loss of 17 kg compared to its predecessor (Panigale V2 S), it is the lightest Panigale model that Ducati has ever produced.

Design and ergonomics: sportiness meets comfort

The design of the Panigale V2 is inspired by the Panigale V4 and combines aggressive lines with elegant details.  The front is dominated by the striking full LED headlight system, whose horizontal daytime running light (DRL) creates a recognizable effect.  The fuel tank is ergonomically designed for a sporty riding style and relieves strain on the wrist thanks to an optimized triangular position.

The rear section is also reminiscent of the Desmosedici from MotoGP and gives the machine the classic Ducati look with the fully clad rear section and the two-part LED tail light.  The rear silencer under the seat picks up on Ducati’s racing tradition and underlines the sporty appearance of the Panigale.

New V2 engine: more torque and power

At the heart of the Panigale V2 is a new 90° V2 engine with variable valve timing for the intake valves and Euro5+ homologation.  With a displacement of 890 cm³, the engine delivers 120 hp (88 kW) at 10,750 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 93.3 Nm at 8,250 rpm.  The low weight of just 54.4 kg makes this engine the lightest two-cylinder ever built by Ducati.

On the racetrack, a special racing exhaust system can increase the power output to 126 hp (93 kW) and reduce the weight by 4.5 kg.  This means that nothing stands in the way of sporty use, although the machine is also ideally suited to road use thanks to its powerful torque development.

Suspension and chassis: stability and adaptability

The Panigale V2 relies on a lightweight monocoque chassis that uses the engine as a load-bearing element.  The two-part swingarm system is reminiscent of that of the Panigale V4 and ensures high stability when exiting corners and precise handling on the race track.  The V2 version has a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and a Kayaba damper, while the V2 S relies on high-quality Öhlins components, including a NIX-30 fork and an Öhlins damper.  The V2 S is also equipped with a lithium-ion battery, which further reduces the weight.

It is fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires in sizes 120/70 at the front and 190/55 at the rear, which offer a good balance between handling and stability.

Electronics: Advanced support for road and race track

The Panigale V2 is equipped with a six-stage inertial sensor (IMU), which supports functions such as ABS Cornering, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 (DQS).  The model also offers four riding modes – Race, Sport, Road and Wet – which allow the rider to customize the bike’s behavior.  The rider can switch between the modes and adjust the settings of the assistance systems.

A 5-inch TFT display shows all relevant riding information in three info modes (Road, Road Pro and Track) as required.  The controls are operated via a new “petal” joystick, which is intuitive to use and allows settings to be adjusted quickly.

Equipment variants and accessories

The Ducati Panigale V2 is available in two versions: the Panigale V2 and the Panigale V2 S. The V2 comes in a two-seater configuration, while the V2 S is designed as a single-seater.  Both models are available in Ducati red and will go on sale from January 2025.  Optional accessories such as a racing fairing, adjustable footrests and a Lap Timer Pro are available for use on the racetrack.

Availability and price

The Panigale V2 will be available from Ducati dealers from the end of January 2025.  Prices are not yet known.
