The Ducati Desmo450 MX will once again compete in a round of the MXGP World Championship.  The Italian manufacturer is planning to take part in the final race of the 2024 season, which will be held in Cózar, Spain, on September 28 and 29.  Following the debut of the Desmo450 MX at the MXGP in Arnhem (Netherlands) in August, where Antonio Cairoli took part in the race, this time Alessandro Lupino will line up for the Ducati Factory MX Team.

Lupino is currently the leading rider in the Italian Prestige MX1 Championship and is preparing intensively for the upcoming 2025 season, in which Ducati is aiming for a bigger role in the MXGP World Championship.  Taking part in the final round of the season in Spain is an important step in this preparation.

Lupino with the Desmo450 MX at the MXGP in Castilla La Mancha

For the GP of Castilla La Mancha, Ducati has decided to enter Lupino, currently the leading rider in the Italian MX1 championship.  Lupino has a 338-point lead over the runner-up in the national championship, with 500 points still up for grabs in the remaining races.  This large lead underlines his current form and shows that he is well equipped to hold his own on international terrain.

The event in Spain is not only a finale to the current season, but also a strategic preparation for the 2025 season. Ducati plans to be more strongly represented in the upcoming MXGP season and to intensify the competition with the Desmo450 MX.

Last round of the Italian Prestige MX1 Championship in Pietramurata

After the MXGP in Spain, Lupino and the Desmo450 MX return to Italy, where they will compete in the final round of the Italian Prestige MX1 Championship at the “Il Ciclamino” circuit in Pietramurata (Arco di Trento) on October 12 and 13.  For Lupino, it is all about overall victory in the national championship, which he currently leads by a clear margin.

With this racing strategy, Ducati is showing that it wants to continue to assert itself at both national and international level.  Participation in the MXGP in Spain is a clear signal that the manufacturer is expanding its MX activities for the coming year.
