In 2021 Daytona Bike Week will celebrate its 80th anniversary and it has been decided to hold the event (almost) as planned.
Exactly at the last Bike Week the pandemic started to spread significantly in the USA. The first days were held normally before the last days were cancelled. Daytona Beach then declined to host Biketoberfest 2020. However, it was held anyway, it was just moved one street away. With excitement, one now awaited the answer to whether and how Bike Week will take place.
Event with hygiene concept
After extensive discussion, the city councilors decided to hold Bike Week and let it take place as usual. Permits will be issued to local businesses to rent vacant lots or front yards to vendors. Bars, restaurants and businesses that also use indoor spaces will only be allowed to use a 60% occupancy. However, if a business only uses the interior spaces, 100% occupancy is also allowed.
Plans have been submitted for cleaning, hand sanitizing stations, mandatory masks, spacing and temperature controls.
Property owners face penalty
Penalties have also been decided should businesses not comply with the requirements. Property owners, for example, are threatened with a ban on renting their property to outdoor vendors or as a parking lot in the future.
Bike Week 2021 will therefore be held from March 5 to 14.
