Performance and technology
The 800MT-X is equipped with a 799cc, parallel twin engine that delivers 94 hp (95 hp, 70 kW) and a torque of 77 Nm. These performance data are comparable with those of the KTM 790 Adventure. The engine has an anti-hopping clutch and a six-speed gearbox, which facilitates handling both on the road and off-road.
Chassis and design
The chassis of the 800MT-X is based on that of the KTM 790 Adventure. The frame and fuel tank design ensure a low center of gravity and therefore good balance at low speeds. The bike has a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel, which underlines its off-road capabilities. Compared to the standard 800MT models with 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel, the 800MT-X offers longer suspension and higher ground clearance.
Equipment and variants
The 800MT-X is expected to be available in several variants that differ in terms of luggage options and accessories. According to type approval documents, the bike will also be available with different screen heights and optional aluminum luggage racks. The brakes come from J.Juan and replace the Brembo brakes originally shown in the concept version. The Akrapovič exhaust system has also been replaced by CFMoto’s own exhaust system.
Market launch and availability
With type approval completed, the 800MT-X is about to go into series production. It is expected that the bike will be available worldwide, although in the USA it will probably be marketed under the name Ibex 800 X. Production is due to start soon and the bike could soon make its debut in international markets.
Conclusion
The CFMoto 800MT-X appears to be a promising addition to the mid-range adventure bike segment. With its robust construction, proven KTM engine and wide range of equipment options, it is aimed at both road and off-road riders. The coming months will show how the model performs on the market.
