Since 01. August 2019, the ban on burqa in the Netherlands has come into force. Even if one may think: “What has this news look for here?”, So the message concerns directly all motorcyclists. Burqa ban is only the name of the new law, officially, there is a obfuscation ban and that includes wearing balaclavas and motorcycle helmets.

“Face-covering clothing” may no longer be worn in public institutions in the Netherlands. If the face is covered, access to public buildings may be prohibited. A minimum fine of 150 € would be possible.
It is currently still open whether the ban will actually be enforced in practice. Many cities have already announced that they will not enforce the ban, although the Ministry sends a reminder to do so.
