It’s no secret that a new BMW R1300GS is coming, although BWM hasn’t made an announcement yet. Now they are teasing a new motorcycle for 2023. The upcoming BMW R 1300 GS?
The current BMW R 1250 GS will be replaced by the R 1300 GS in the future, and the model has already been spotted on test rides as well. On social media, BMW has now started hinting at an upcoming model.
A motorcycle can be seen that has been covered with a tarpaulin. “Coming 2023” confirms the planned release in 2023. If you try to guess the shape under the tarp, the silhouette could fit a GS. There are no other hints about the model, BMW only mentions their 100th anniversary this year. So when might be a better time to unveil the new BMW R 1300 GS, even if it’s not yet known exactly when the model will be unveiled or released?
What has changed for the R 1300 GS?
The first prototype photos show a further development of the chassis and bodywork. There are changes to the frame and the paralever single-sided swingarm has been revised. The bodywork looks more compact and aggressive.
The new BMW 1300 GS has certainly undergone a slimming down, you can expect less weight than the previous model.
It can be assumed that the new GS will also be equipped with the latest technologies. Certainly, the new radar system will also be installed here, which can be used to implement distance cruise control, among other things. It is unclear whether the radar system will already be fitted as standard or only offered as an option.
Larger Boxer engine
It is to be expected that the new engine will also have the shift cam system. The previous engine was still two-thirds air-cooled, but the 1,300cc engine is to be completely liquid-cooled in the future, which could increase performance even more. It is not yet clear how high this will be, although top performance has never been the top priority for the touring enduro.
