The BMW R 18 Magnifica has now been presented at the Marques Show in Monaco. It is an extreme conversion by Officine Riunite and customizer Radikal Chopper. The Magnifica is said to bring together luxury, craftsmanship and the finest materials in a unique way.
Officine Riunite commissioned Andrea Radaelli of Radikal Chopper for this rebuild. Raffaello Polchi, owner of Officine Riunite, has chosen the BMW R 18 as the basis.
Andrea Radaelli on his approach: “The bike must be my own creation. I have no interest in modifying a concept already created by others and very well done.”
Inspired by classic bikes
Andrea Radaelli drew inspiration from motorcycles of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. This is also reflected in the materials used, such as the handlebar grips made of wood.
Almost everything on the Magnifica has been built by hand. The only exception here are the rims, which are milled from the solid. The brake calipers and even the brake discs were developed especially for this project. The rear end and the seat give the impression of floating in the air due to the one-piece suspension. Mahogany and polished stainless steel were used on the rear.
Even though the fork looks old-school, it is equipped with a modern interior. The dimensions of the bike remain original and the electronics have not been reworked.
