BMW CE 02 – for urban electromobility

BMW Motorrad continues its electromobility strategy with the launch of the BMW CE 02.  Two years after the release of the CE 04, BMW Motorrad presents another electric trailblazer for the metropolises of this world.  The CE 02, a unique blend of e-scooter and e-motorcycle, offers an exciting alternative for urban mobility with its futuristic design and innovative features.

Individual design meets electric performance

With its electric drive and novel proportions, the CE 02 from BMW Motorrad is aimed particularly at a young audience.  Its minimalist design, characterized by large, robust wheels and a clear design language, is intended to make it an ideal companion for urban environments.

The combination of a black frame and wheels, along with an engine cover in matte granite gray metallic, creates an interesting contrast.  In the HIGHLINE optional equipment, on the other hand, the CE 02 shines in colorful tones, with a gold anodized fork and a tape design highlighted by the contrasting color of petrol.

Performance and range in two variants

The CE 02 is available in two power variants: with a maximum power of 15 hp (11 kW / 14.75 hp / rated power 6 kW or 8 hp), young people aged 16 and over can ride the model.  A throttled version with 5 hp (3.7 kW / 4.9 hp) even allows younger drivers from the age of 15 in Germany to drive the CE 02.  In addition, this version is limited to 45 km/h and meets the requirements of driving license class AM.

With a top speed of 95 km/h and a range of more than 90 km (according to WMTC) for the 11 kW version, the CE 02 is also suitable for the highways.  The low weight of only 132 kg (291 lbs) for the 11 kW version and 119 kg (262 lbs) for the 4 kW version, together with a low seat height of 750 mm, ensures easy handling.

Multiple riding modes and charging options

The CE 02 offers “Flow” and “Surf” riding modes as standard, allowing optimal adaptation to urban traffic and a more dynamic out-of-town riding experience, respectively.  With the optional HIGHLINE equipment or as an Original BMW Motorrad accessory, the sporty “Flash” mode is available.

The CE 02 comes standard with an external charger with a charging power of 0.9 kW.  A fast charger with a charging power of 1.5 kW is available as optional HIGHLINE equipment or as an Original BMW Motorrad accessory (only for the 11 kW version).

High-quality equipment and connectivity

The CE 02 scores with a tubular steel frame, front telescopic fork, rear single-sided swingarm and cast alloy wheels in disc wheel design.  A TFT display informs the rider about speed, battery level and more.

The BMW Motorrad Connected app can be used to display the predicted end of charge and control the BMW Motorrad app via cradle mode.  BMW Motorrad Connected Services make it possible to view the CE 02’s charging status and other vehicle information at any time.

Key features of the BMW CE 02

With a maximum power output of 15 hp (11 kW / 14.75 hp) and a torque of 55 Nm, as well as an alternative power variant for the AM driving license with 5 hp (3.7 kW / 4.9 hp) and the same torque, the CE 02 sets new electric standards.  It offers a wide range of functions such as BMW Motorrad ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Recuperative Stability Control (RSC). Thanks to the 3.5″ micro TFT and USB-C socket, you’ll always stay connected.  The HIGHLINE optional equipment also offers the sporty “Flash” driving mode and a more powerful external charger.

The highlights of the new BMW CE 02:

  • Maximum power 11 kW (15 hp), rated power 6 kW (8 hp), torque 55 Nm.
  • Power variant for AM* driving license: Maximum power 4 kW (5 hp), rated power 3.2 kW (4 hp), torque 55 Nm.
