Honda plans to launch its battery sharing service in India in the first half of 2022. The Mobile Power Packs will initially supply rickshaws (three-wheeled cabs) with the necessary power.
The corresponding vehicles are not built by Honda. Honda wants to play a supporting role in convincing local manufacturers to convert their vehicles to the system. A good argument for the conversion is also provided by the legislator; from April 2023, only electrically powered rickshaws may be used in India.
At the launch of the system, the exchange stations will only be available in selected cities, but the aim is to gradually expand the areas.
