Technical data: Power, weight, and engine characteristics
The ZXJC 820RR is based on a newly developed three-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 819 cm³. The power output is stated as 150 hp (110 kW) at 13,000 rpm. According to the manufacturer, the maximum torque is 85 Nm (approx. 62.7 lb.-ft.) and is reached at 10,500 rpm. The engine is said to enable a maximum speed of 15,250 rpm.
With a stated weight of only 168 kg (about 370 lbs) when fully fueled, the 820RR is on par with European sports bikes such as the MV Agusta F3. The low weight is mainly due to an aluminum frame. The ZXJC 820RR is said to reach a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph), which corresponds to the voluntary limit set by the major manufacturers in Europe and Japan.
Modern electronics and equipment
ZXJC equips the 820RR with extensive electronics. A six-axis IMU system is used, which enables, among other things, lean-angle-dependent traction control and Bosch cornering ABS. This equipment meets current standards in the super sports bike sector.
Market strategy and development
ZXJC has already gained initial experience with the 500RR, a four-cylinder supersport bike with 83 hp (61 kW) at 13,500 rpm. The 820RR now represents the next step. It is intended to be the first model variant in a planned three-cylinder series, which will also include an adventure version. In addition, a 450 single-cylinder motocross bike and a 650 V2 cruiser have been announced.
It remains to be seen whether the ambitious development schedule can be met and the stated performance data achieved in series production. However, the project is already at an advanced prototype stage. In addition, design patents exist for the three-cylinder engine, which differs visually and technically from previous models from other manufacturers.
Chinese manufacturers are increasingly focusing on three-cylinder engines
With the ZXJC 820RR, another Chinese manufacturer is reinforcing the trend toward three-cylinder sports motorcycles. CFMoto is already represented in this segment with the 675SS and 675NK, while Zontes is following suit with several 703 models. Experts assume that ZXJC will also offer its models internationally in the medium term.
Outlook
The ZXJC 820RR could bring new momentum to the super sports bike market. If the production version does indeed appear as announced with 150 hp (110 kW), 85 Nm, and a weight of 168 kg (370 lbs), as well as extensive electronic equipment, it is likely to become an interesting alternative to established brands, especially for price-conscious customers. However, a final assessment will only be possible after the official market launch and initial independent tests.
