Immersive experiences at the Ducati Museum
Visitors to the Ducati Museum in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, will be able to immerse themselves in virtual reality in the coming months. Thanks to 5G technology and specially developed virtual reality solutions from TIM Enterprise, areas that are normally inaccessible can be explored. Using special VR goggles, visitors will experience two exclusive scenarios:
- a look behind the scenes of MotoGP™
- This experience takes users into the MotoGP™ garage of the Ducati Lenovo team. In a 360-degree perspective with up to 8K video quality, fans can experience the day-to-day work of the team. Guided by Mauro Grassilli, Director of Sport, Marketing and Communication at Ducati Corse, participants will gain an insight into the technology of the Desmosedici GP and the processes of a race weekend.
- discover the history of the Ducati 916
- A virtual “cabinet of curiosities” invites you to explore the history of the iconic Ducati 916. Historical pictures, design sketches and old magazines illustrate the influence of this motorcycle on the motorcycling world.
5G technology as the basis
The technical basis for these immersive experiences is TIM’s 5G millimeter wave network, which was developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. This is supported by TIM Enterprise’s extended reality platform, which optimizes cloud-based XR solutions. These technologies enable a lag-free and interactive user experience.
Voices on the innovation
Elio Schiavo, Chief Enterprise and Innovative Solutions Officer at TIM, explained:
“Today we are demonstrating how technology can enrich the cultural and historical heritage of sport and design through immersive experiences. With 5G and extended reality, we are making content accessible and promoting tourism at the same time.”
Patrizia Cianetti, Marketing and Communications Director of Ducati Motor Holding, added:
“Innovation is central to our philosophy. The collaboration with TIM Enterprise fits perfectly with our pursuit of sophistication. With the virtual experiences, we complement the visits to the museum and create unforgettable moments.”
Expansion of digital tourism
With this project, TIM and Ducati are exploring new ways to promote digital tourism experiences. The combination of 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud technology and cybersecurity shows the potential to combine cultural heritage and innovation. In addition to the virtual experiences for visitors, a demonstration project on the use of 5G-supported robots in the logistics sector was also presented.
