Sport Chief RT: Performance and comfort combined
The Sport Chief RT builds on the popular Indian Sport Chief and brings a host of new, factory-installed features that are otherwise often only available from accessory dealers. The aim was to create a motorcycle that combines style, storage space and functionality.
“When we introduced the Sport Chief, we raised the bar for performance cruisers,” said Aaron Jax, Vice President of Indian Motorcycle. “With the Sport Chief RT, we’re expanding that concept to include factory-installed, high-quality components that are specifically designed to meet the rider’s needs.”
Design and equipment
The Sport Chief RT has been developed with a focus on user-friendly functionality and stylish design:
- New rigid side cases: with a capacity of more than 37 liters, the waterproof cases offer space for complete rider equipment. These cases are not only included as standard with the model, but are also available as accessories for other Indian Chief models.
- Two-person seat with high back support: The “2-Up High Bolster Seat” combines comfort with an aggressive look and offers more comfort for rider and passenger thanks to 127 mm support.
- Quarter fairing with windshield: The combination provides improved wind protection and a sporty appearance.
- Metzeler Cruisetec tires: Mounted on 19-inch and 16-inch alloy wheels, the tires promise solid road holding in a wide range of conditions.
- Ergonomic details: With typical motorcycle handlebars, 152 mm high risers and forward-mounted footrests, a relaxed riding position is made possible.
The Sport Chief RT also features a 101 mm touchscreen display operated by RIDE COMMAND. In addition to classic display options, it offers music control, navigation functions and smartphone connectivity, which can also be used via handlebar controls.
Engine and performance
At the heart of the Sport Chief RT beats the air-cooled Thunderstroke 116 V twin engine with a displacement of 1890 cm³, which delivers a torque of 156 Nm. Three selectable riding modes (Sport, Standard and Tour) allow the throttle response to be adapted to the riding conditions and preferences.
In addition, the suspension set-up has been designed for performance and comfort:
- KYB inverted forks: these lightweight forks offer precise handling and reduce fatigue on longer rides.
- FOX Performance shock absorbers: The adjustable shock absorbers can be individually adjusted via 23 click settings to ensure the most comfortable riding experience possible.
- Brembo brake system: With dual brake callipers and 320 mm discs, the brake system ensures effective deceleration.
Accessories and customization
In addition to the factory-fitted components, Indian Motorcycle offers a wide range of accessory options:
- PowerBand Audio Bluetooth Speakers: with 90 watts of output power, the speakers deliver clear sound even at highway speeds.
- High Mounted Tee Bar: Provides additional protection at low speeds and gives the bike a personalized look.
- Advanced lighting: Adaptive LED headlight technology automatically adjusts the light beam to the motorcycle’s angle of inclination and improves visibility when riding at night.
Super Chief Dark Horse: Black style for cruiser fans
The new Super Chief Dark Horse combines the powerful Thunderstroke 116 engine with an all-black design. It is available in the colors Black Metallic and Moss Green and offers the same premium features as the Sport Chief RT, including the 101 mm touchscreen display, ride modes, cruise control, keyless go and USB charging ports.

For 2025, the Indian Chief range will be offered in various color combinations:
